I knew Bernie as collegue, co-worker, writer, broadcaster, salesman and friend for more nearly 20 years. He had a style all his own and could change a room with his smile and wit. We didn't cross paths a lot in those 20 years, but it was always my pleasure when we did.

Regrettably, I was unable able to pay my respects.

Thank you for your commitment to the community and for taking risks that few could. I pray your legacy will continue for years to come.

To your wife and sons, friends and those who came in contact with you; may your memory be a blessing.

Maureen & family,  My heart goes out to you all at this time.  Bernie was a great guy and will be missed.  Wish there was more I could say to ease the hurt you must all be feeling right now - but I know there isn't so keep all the wonderful memories close to your heart and know some day you will see him again.

1133To Bernie And His Family,

As I reflect on Bernie, who he was and what he stood for, one word comes to mind, passionate!  He was passionate about sports.  He was passionate about his community.  And although I did not know the your family that well, I  am sure he was passionate about his family.

I will always be grateful for the coverage he provided for DeKalb County Sports. Mitchell and Courtney have many tapes and cd''s and dvd''s of their ball games that were on local tv and that Bernie made himself.

His references to the "Brown and Brown Little League Baseball Players"  and the movie trivia questions, especially as they pertained to the movie "Hoosiers" I will never forget!  Thanks Bernie for the memories, for your passion and for what you always stood for, trying to make your community a better place to be.

May You Rest In Peace Bernie And May Your Family Feel God''s Loving Arms Wrapped Around You In This Time Of Need.

With Sincere Sympathy,

Matt, Kim and Mitchell Beerbower
Courtney and Braylon Knox

In the brief time Bernie worked with us at WIFF Radio/TV7 and then Brad Brown and I helped him start up his own production studio for cable TV programming, his commitment to family and community were readily apparent. His enthusiasm for DeKalb Baron sports and the teams he coached were equally admirable.

To Bernie's Family: I knew Bernie through his weekly calls at Hendrickson in Kendallville. He was cheerful, always smiling and had the most positive attitude of anyone I know. He made us smile and it was a pleasure knowing him. I am deeply saddened for your loss. All of us at Hendrickson will miss him.

Maureen & Family: I was a high school friend of Bernie's and we played baseball together.  I am very sorry for your loss.  I'm sure, however, knowing Bernie you all have been very blessed to be together all these years.  I read an article Bernie wrote on Facebook recently about his old home in Akron and then checked out his page...obviously, Bernie was a well loved man in your community as well!  May you sense God's presence and peace with you all as you go through this time together.  Sincerely, Steve Finical

Bernie was a great inspiration to the community and to my family.  We were new to the area and he made Taylor feel like part of the team (he was Taylor's baseball coach).  Our thoughts and prayer are with you and your family.  May you remember the wonderful times. Bernie will be greatly missed.  God Bless.
