WATERLOO — D. “DeWayne” Lockwood, 75, of Waterloo, Indiana, unexpectedly went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 21, 2017, at Parkview Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born March 21, 1942, in Auburn to Ronald and Dorthy (Parker) Lockwood. He married the love of his life, Sharon Eshelman, on May 19, 1963; she survives.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Sheila Lockwood of Waterloo and Todd and Kelli Lockwood of Butler; five grandchildren, Keeton, Brooke-destinee and Haiden Lockwood, Ben Marchus and Kerissa (Michael) Frigo; one brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Pat Lockwood; and one sister and brother-in-law, Anna Rose and David Powers.
DeWayne was a farmer and self-employed insurance agent for 47 years, serving and forming lasting relationships with members of the surrounding community. DeWayne devoted his time to serving the Lord and teaching Sunday school, serving as a head deacon and singing in the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church, Auburn.
DeWayne, a loving husband and proud father and grandfather, loved music, fishing, making knives, beekeeping, animals and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed laughter and making others laugh. A kind-hearted man never knowing a stranger and has forever left his mark on this earth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Hugh Eshleman and Hubert Kugler
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn with Rev. Jonathan Nack officiating. Burial is in Sedan Cemetery, Corunna. Calling is Thursday from 2-7 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, and also one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
