Dorothy J. (Siminton) Houser, age 92, of St. Joe passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn. 

Mrs. Houser was born on December 22, 1924 in Auburn to Ora and Etta Mae (Pontious) Rowe. 

She married her first husband Merlin E. Siminton on April 5, 1944 in Spencerville.  He preceded her in death in September of 1984.  She married her second husband Lowell “Junior” Houser on August 6, 1992 in Butler.  He preceded her in death in March of 2014. 

Dorothy worked at the USDA office in DeKalb County for 3 years.  She was also a homemaker and worked on the family farm.

She was member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church of rural Butler.  She was also a member of the DeKalb County Home Demonstration Club and the St. Joe Fireman’s Auxiliary. 

Survivors include: 

Son and daughter-in-law; Jerry and Kathy Siminton of Auburn.

Daughter and son-in-law; Janice and Tom Weaver of Fort Wayne.

Step daughter and step son-in-law; Vickie and Salvadore Gomez of Auburn.

Step daughter and step son-in-law; Kimberly and Jeff Rattray of Muncie.

Three grandchildren; Jerry T. Siminton, Tessa Weaver and Cory Weaver and his wife Tennille.

One great grandson; Xavier Weaver.

Three step grandchildren; Sheena Gomez, Olivia Gomez and Travis Rattray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband; Merlin, her second husband; Junior and her sister; Gretchen Teeters.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn.

Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in St. Joe.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Christine Fodrea of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be directed to the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and DeKalb County Humane Society.
