Erica Trittan Widmer, age 39, of Fort Wayne passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

Erica was born in Fort Wayne on May 11, 1978.  She was a graduate of Angola High School.  She then earned her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and her master’s degree from Purdue University.

She married Jim Widmer on July 5, 2008 in Fort Wayne.  He resides in Fort Wayne. 

Erica worked for Purdue University as the extension educator for Jay County.  As part of her duties she was in charge of the 4H program in Jay County.  Her main passion was being a color guard designer and director for several area high schools.  Her work has helped earn several state championships over the years.  She was proud to serve as a board member on the Indiana High School Color Guard Association.

Her husband; Jim Widmer of Fort Wayne.

Her father; Larry Hindman of Pleasant Lake.

Her mother; Tammy Hindman of Auburn.

Aunt; Holly Fenton of Hastings, Minnesota.

Uncle; Wes Hindman of Pleasant Lake.

Father-in-law; George Widmer of Fort Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother; Joan Hindman and her mother-in-law; Kathleen Widmer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Saint Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road in Fort Wayne.  Visitation will also be held on Friday one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 at the church.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Jason Morris with the Saint Joseph United Methodist Church.

Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Waterloo at a later date.
