August 1, 1938 ~ December 12, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years OldButler – Franklin Ray Johnson, 79 of Butler died Tuesday December 12, 2017 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn. He was born August 1, 1938 on the family farm in Allen County near Harlan. His father was Edward Ray Johnson and his mother was Marcella “Sally” (Federspiel) Young. They have both passed away. Franklin was a 1956 Garrett High School graduate. He was a former Auburn Rubber Company employee and worked for International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 30 years before retiring in 1980. He was a lifetime Farmer and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. He served as Wilmington Township Trustee for 6 years and for 10 years he was 4H Sheep Superintendent. He enjoyed talking about and collecting Allis Chalmers Tractors. Franklin married Beverly Bry on May 12, 1961 in the old United Methodist Church in Auburn and she survives. Also surviving is a son Mark (Wendy Porter) Johnson of Auburn; a brother William (Norma) Johnson of Garrett and a sister, Donna (Pete) Varhola of Dayton, OH. Services will be at 1 PM Friday December 15, 2017 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery following services at the funeral home.
