Gary Dale Ross, age 67, moved onto a higher place on Saturday, May 6th.  He fought a long, courageous fight against cancer not giving up or giving in easily despite many of his final months full of pain and suffering. He was strong for his family and held on as long as he could for them.

Gary was born November 15, 1949 in West Liberty, Kentucky. He loved and often spoke about his upbringing and the amazing childhood memories made with his large family that included; Parents - Harlan Ross and James and Myrtle Anglin, Brothers – Billy Ross, Ray Ross of Auburn, Indiana, Charlie Ross of Elkhart, Indiana, and John Ross of Eustis, Florida. Sisters – Edith “Jo” Vinson, Adalene Havens of Morehead, Kentucky, Martha Skaggs of Morehead, Kentucky, and Elizabeth Brewer of Miamisburg, Ohio.

Gary was a very proud Tool & Die Maker, beginning his career at Universal Tool in Butler, Indiana in the late 1960’s and “retiring” from Multimatic also in Butler, Indiana in 2014. He enjoyed his trade and loved to talk shop when he ran into any of his past co-workers. Gary also enjoyed playing cards (especially euchre), all things Johnny Cash, family reunions, “real” country music, collecting and organizing family photos, watching movies, and his most favorite social activity singing, or watching friends and family sing, karaoke. Gary was a long-time member of the Butler Eagles Aerie #2733.

Gary and Kathleen (Whitman) Ross were married on June 24, 2014. Kathleen was by his side during his hard battle. Together they enjoyed music concerts, road trips to see family, attending the grandkids events and Silver Sneakers classes at the YMCA.

Gary was a loving father and devoted grandfather. His children include; Son – Tommy and Amanda Ross of Hicksville, Ohio. Daughters -  Shannon and Jack Lilly of Butler, Indiana and Alexis and Christopher Baber of Townsend, Delaware. Step-Daughters – Felicia Bermudez and Margo and Chris Ramer of Auburn, Indiana. Grandchildren include; Jestene Lilly and Jayden Lilly of Butler, Indiana, Colton Ross and Brylee Ross of Hicksville, Ohio and Roman Baber of Townsend, Delaware. Step-Grandchildren –Maddy Minehart and Gabe Trevino of Auburn, Indiana, and Esa Bermudez and Felix Bermudez of Springhill, Florida.

Harlan, James & Myrtle, Jo, Billy and Felicia all preceded Gary in passing.

Gary was very thankful for the support given during these tough years. He has been on many prayer chains and had so many warriors fighting with and for him. He was blessed with extra time and made the most of it. He always had a smile on his face and a hug, wave or handshake to give.

Memorials may be given to Visiting Nurse of Fort Wayne in memory of Gary Ross ( vnfw.org ) or to Kathleen Ross to assist with his medical bills and expenses.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
