Harlen Bolen, age 89, of Waterloo passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his Waterloo home. 

Harlen was born in Garrett, Kentucky on September 3, 1928 to Ellis and Cosby (Hicks) Bolen. 

He married Julia Joan Stuller on June 15, 1946 in Auburn.  She preceded him in death March 12, 2006.

Harlen first worked for the B & O Railroad for 5 years.  He then worked for the Auburn Foundry for 20 years and lastly he worked for the Newman Foundry in Kendallville retiring in 1993.

He was a member of the Waterloo Freewill Baptist Church.  He loved hunting and fishing.  He got the most enjoyment out of planting and taking care of the large garden that he had every year.

Son and daughter-in-law; James and Lori Bolen of Waterloo.

Daughter and son-in-law; Christine and Jim Goodman of Waterloo.

Daughter and son-in-law; Sandy and Neil Applegate of Waterloo.

Daughter and son-in-law; Janet and Rick Winkles of Gosport, Indiana.

16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Brother and sister-in-law; Dixie and Ellen Bolen of Garrett.

Brother; Larry Bolen of Garrett.

Brother and sister-in-law; Ronnie and Oma Bolen of Stroh.

Brother and sister-in-law; Roger and Tiny Bolen of Garrett, Kentucky.

Sister; Roseanna Conley of Stroh.

Sister and brother-in-law; Linda and Clark Wireman of Mooresville, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julia and 2 brothers; Orville Bolen and Edward Bolen.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Freewill Baptist Church, 2833 County Road 27 in Waterloo.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the church.

Officiating the memorial service will be Rev. Ron Stambaugh of the Freewill Baptist Church. 

Burial will be in the Sedan Cemetery in Corunna.
