Hazel B. Messer Auburn – Hazel B. Messer, 86, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018, at her home in rural Auburn. She was born June 1, 1931, in Leslie County, Kentucky to the late Ail and Ora (Muncie) Brock. Hazel married Emanuel Messer on February 24, 1953, in Pennington Gap, Virginia, and he passed way July 20, 1996. Mrs. Messer worked for Ball Brass & Aluminum Foundry in Auburn for 28 years, retiring in 1996. Hazel was a member of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene. She was a volunteer for over 12 years at the Curiosity Shop and loved to garden. Surviving are a son, Mark A. Messer of Auburn; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah K. and Keith Treesh of Auburn, Sherry L. and Eric Brown of Louisville, Kentucky, and Patricia L. Phillips of Hot Springs, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Darcy Flanagan, Carrie Flanagan, Matisse Flanagan, Jason Messer and Brandon Treesh; four great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Ira and Bennie Brock of Tennessee, Delnoe and Fay Brock of Roberts, Kentucky, Curtis and Becky Brock of Stamping Ground, Kentucky, William and Cathy Brock of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, and Lonnie and Sue Brock of Belleville, Illinois; and two sisters, Bessie Ball of Whitestown, IN and Madelan Kirby of Mozelle, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Oscar L. Messer; and three brothers, Monroe Brock, Roosevelt Brock and Roger Brock. Services will be 1 PM Saturday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Doug Thomas officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 PM Friday at the funeral home and also 1 hour prior to the service Saturday from 12 to 1 at the funeral home.
