Butler – Herbert D Jackson, 98 of Hamilton died Thursday February 23, 2017 at Laurels of DeKalb in Butler. He was born June 30, 1918 in Parma, MI to Arthur D. and Grace B. (Balliet) Jackson. He was a WWII US Army Veteran. He worked for the New York Central Railroad for 20 years then worked for the US Postal service for 25 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the American Legion Post #467 of Hamilton and Angola Masonic Lodge # 236. He loved to Bowl, golf and watch baseball games, especially the Cubs. Herbert married Beverly “Betty” Householder on June 29, 1946 in Kendallville and she survives in Butler. He is also survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Janet L and Charles Hanes of Hamilton and Judy L and Jim Milleman of Orland; 2 grandchildren, Charles Hanes IV of Fort Wayne and Hilary Milleman of Indianapolis and a great-granddaughter Carlie Hanes of Antwerp, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Vivian “Lucile” Turnham and 3 brothers, Lyle Jackson, Wendall Jackson and Forrest Jackson. Services will be 11 am Monday February 27, 2017 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, IN with Jeff Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton with military graveside honors conducted by the US Army Honor Detail and the Hamilton American Legion Post #467. Calling is Sunday from 2 to 6 PM at the funeral home. A masonic service will take place at 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
