John M. Mace, age 72, of Auburn passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. 

Mr. Mace was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on June 11, 1945 to Otto and Goldie (Gammie) Mace. 

John married Judith A. Reichert on November 23, 1968 in Youngstown, Indiana.  She resides in Auburn.

He worked for the Norfolk Southern Railway in New Haven as a conductor for 28 years.  After his retirement John ran a bicycle shop out of his garage for several years as a small business and hobby.

John was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Pleasant Lake.  He was active in DeKalb County 4H where he and his wife served as co-leaders.  John knew almost everything there was to know about old and antique tractors.  He also loved horses and had several over the years.    

Survivors include: 

His wife of 49 years; Judith Mace of Auburn.

Son; Jeff Mace and his companion Tammy Callahan of Corunna.

Two granddaughters; Tiffany Koble and her husband Ricky and Tabatha Callahan.

Two great grandchildren; Ryan Koble and Olivia Koble.

Sister and brother-in-law; Nancy and Bernie Cooper of Fort Wayne.

Sister and brother-in-law; Norma and James Buerk of Ottawa Hills, Ohio.

Five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in AuburnVisitation will also take place one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Tamara Gerber of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.

Burial will take place in the Circle Cemetery in Hudson.

Memorials may be directed to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, New York 10573 and the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250.
