John W. “J.W.” Miller age 80, of Auburn passed away on Monday, September, 12, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. 

Mr. Miller was born on October 30, 1935 in Allen County to John H. and Virginia (Bucher) Miller.

He married Mary Timbrook on March 11, 1955 at the Harlan Church of Christ in Harlan.  She resides in Auburn.

Mr. Miller honorably served his country in the United States Army. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserves.

He worked for Kroger Grocery Stores for a total of 46 years both in the warehouse and as a truck driver.  He worked for Nucor Fastener in St. Joe for 10 years as well. He was also a longtime DeKalb County farmer raising cows and goats.  He was known locally as the “goat man”. 

Mr. Miller was active in his church.  He and Mary were founding members of the Cedar Creek Church of Christ in the Leo – Cedarville area.  He was also a member of the Auburn American Legion and served at one time on the Grabill Volunteer Fire Department.  John enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.

Daughter and son-in-law; Denise and Darrell Harper of Garrett.

Son and daughter-in-law; William "Bill" and Lisa Miller of Auburn.

4 grandchildren; Danielle Harper and her companion; Jeff Minnich, Amber Miller, Arielle Miller Black and her husband; Kyle Black and Gabriel and Bethany Miller.

4 great grandchildren; Morgan Miller, Micah Black, Christian Black and Eyra Grace Miller.

Brother; Robert Miller of St. Joe.

Brother; Melvin Miller of Waterloo.

Sister-in-law; Mary Ann Miller of Grabill.

His beloved dog; Blitzen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers; Richard Miller, James Miller and Nelson Miller.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Cedar Creek Church of Christ, 12606 Leo Road in Fort Wayne.  Visitation will also be held on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cedar Creek Church of Christ.

Officiating the funeral service will be Ron Collins and Greg Krafft.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
