Prudenville, MI – Larry Dean Matthews, 78 of Prudenville, MI, formerly of Garrett, died unexpectedly Thursday July 20, 2017 at his home. He was born in Indianapolis, In to Roy and Marcile (Turner) Matthews and they have both passed away. Larry was a Certified Blasting expert in Construction. He owned and operated his own business, Findlay Drilling and Blasting of Findlay, OH. He was a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran and was a member of the Marine Corps League in Houghton Lake, MI. He was a former member of the Garrett Eagles and the Garrett DeMolay. Larry married Betty Hoyer on October 7, 1967 in Helmer, IN and she survives in Prudenville, MI. also surviving are 3 children, Jeffery Allen Matthews of Blissfield, MI, Jennifer Ann Shoemaker of Toledo, OH and Jason Andrew Matthews of Oak Ridge, TN; 2 grandchildren, PFC Austin M Shoemaker and Amber Breann Shoemaker and a brother and Sister in law, Ronald L and Annetta Matthews of Garrett. Services will be 1 PM Thursday July 27, 2017 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN with Rev Bill Haworth officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Pleasant Lake, IN. with the American Legion and U.S. Marine Corp Honor Teams conducting Military Funeral Honors.
