Lee Jay Davis died peacefully on January 6, 2019 in Auburn, Indiana. He was 75. Lee was a lifelong car enthusiast, and had recently retired and moved, with his wife of 57 years, Beth, to Auburn to enjoy the pleasures of a small community that shared a big passion for cars.
Lee Jay was born on December 23, 1943 in Athens, Ohio, to Mabel (nee Croy) Davis and William Jay Davis. In 1961 he graduated from Cloverleaf High School where he met his high school sweetheart and future wife Beth (nee Elder) with whom he had two daughters.
During his career Lee worked for L.S. Ayers & Company in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, Indiana (1967 - 1972) and as the owner of several businesses, including clothing and gift shops in Caldwell, Ohio (1972 - 1982). In 1982 Lee and his wife Beth purchased and restored The Rowell's Inn, an 18th Century Stagecoach stop and historic country inn in Simonsville, Vermont, and served as its owners/innkeepers through 1999.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Beth and their daughters: Elizabeth (Nicholas) Anaclerio and Christine Davis; grandchildren, Eleanor, Grace, Nicholas and Luke Anaclerio; brothers Jeffrey (Dixie) Davis and Noel Davis; brother-in-law Steve (Joan) Elder.
A memorial service will be held July 20, 2019, 2:00 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home, 25 Pleasant Street, Seville, OH 44273, with a reception to follow.
