Marcia Ellen (Lothamer) Smith, 81, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on February 24, 2018.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garrett, Indiana, on March 19 at 10 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 19 with Father Jim Shafer officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Creek Cemetery in rural Garrett with a celebration meal following at the church. Feller and Clark Funeral Home, Auburn, is handling the funeral arrangements.
Marcia was born in Van Wert, Ohio, to Claude and Pauline (Hartman) Lothamer on March 30, 1936. She was the valedictorian of the class of 1954 at St. Joseph’s School in Garrett, Indiana. She married Albert “Cork” Smith on April 7, 1956 in Garrett.
Marcia worked for Cooper Industrial Products in Auburn, retiring after 30 years of service. While working for Cooper, she earned her AA and BS in marketing and sales from Purdue University.
After retiring, she found more time to volunteer locally and to enjoy her hobbies that included quilting, restoring antiques and playing cards. She loved the sun and travelled to Bradenton, Florida, during the winter months. She was a member of St. Gaspar’s Catholic Church in Rome City.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Pauline, her husband Albert “Cork” Smith and a brother, Richard Lothamer.
Surviving are four children, Cindy (Diana) Smith of Garrett, Denny Smith of Fresno, California, Patty (Farrell) Gourneau of Belcourt, North Dakota, and Angie (Chuck) Hunter of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
