Auburn – Marilyn K Helmick, 72 died Thursday May 18, 2017 at her home in Auburn.
She was born July 16, 1944 in Garrett to George and Minnie (Custer) Payton.
She worked for over 20 years at Rieke Corporation before retiring in 2007.
She was a member of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene where she helped with the Cup of Cold Water outreach of the church. She was a member of the Red Hats Women’s group, Garrett American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a former member of the Garrett Eagles. She also enjoyed and did a lot of volunteer work with the American Red Cross Blood Mobile.
Marilyn married William Helmick on July 21, 1972 in Hamilton and he survives in Auburn.
She is also survived by children, Debra (Steven) Deetz of Auburn, Michael Helmick of Garrett and Sherri (Doug) Kee of Garrett: A former daughter in law Shelly Jacobs of Auburn; A sister and brother, Jama (Russell) Campbell of Garrett and Kim (Chris) Payton of Garrett; A brother in law, Rick (Beth) Helmick of Auburn and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Jeff Caywood, a brother Bob Payton and a grandson.
A memorial service will be 2 PM Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN. Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Calling is 2 hours prior to the service Wednesday from 12 to 2 at the funeral home.
