Auburn – Miriam J Buckles, 99 of Auburn passed away Friday July 21, 2017 at her home in Auburn. She was born in Auburn on March 8, 1918 to Wallace Clayton and C. Marie (TenEyck) Hersh. Miriam was a home maker and also served 2 terms as DeKalb County Recorder. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Auburn First United Methodist Church. She is survived by 4 children, Laurie Carthen of Auburn, Nedra Daub and husband Steve of Fort Walton Beach, FL, William B Hunter and his wife Rhonda of Louisville, KY and Elizabeth Horrom and her husband Herb of Auburn; 5 grandchildren, Colette DeWitt, Elise Hippensteel, Andrew Daub, Abigail (Earl) Borron and Bryan Horrom; 6 great grandchildren, Amber Carthen - Bailey, Stephanie DeWitt, Nathan Carthen, Ashlee Wells, Grant Horrom and Parker Borron and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, William E Hunter and Rex Buckles, a grandson Eugene Frank Carthen Jr, a sister Marjorie Sanxter and 2 brothers, Wallace S “Tony” Hersh (Died in WWII) and Robert A Hersh. A Graveside service will be held at a later Date in Woodlawn Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Auburn First United Methodist Church (memo line, Preschool program).
