Naomi R. Heitz, 99, of Auburn passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett.

Mrs. Heitz was born in rural Garrett on March 6, 1918.

She married Dale Heitz on July 29, 1939, and he passed away on December 22, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mollie and Harry Garman as well as a brother, Robert Garman and a sister, Roeine Miller.

Former employment of Mrs. Heitz included working in the office at the Auburn Rubber Company as well as the Auburn Foundry.

Mrs. Heitz also did many years of volunteer work at DeKalb Memorial Hospital, DeKalb County Humane Shelter and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum.

She was an active member of the Norris Chapel United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Auburn Women’s Club.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Sue and Don Berry of Auburn, and Jan and Dick Burtch of Pleasant Lake; five grandchildren, Charis Berry of Auburn, Craig Halliday of Auburn, New York, Brian Burtch of Oak Brook, Illinois, Mollie Galloway of Woodbridge Virginia, and Carson Burtch of Woodbridge, Virginia; and four great grandchildren, Aaron Berry, Alyssa Berry, Katie Galloway, and Kyle Galloway.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Gail Norton officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Visitation will be from noon – 1 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
