Richard E. "Dick" Baird, 78, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Ashley died Friday, November 25, 2016 at his home in Fort Wayne.

He was born February 21, 1938, in Ashley to the late S.U. and Violet (Wirick) Baird.

Dick Married Joyce D. Coffey on April 11, 1959, at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in rural Waterloo, and she survives in Fort Wayne.

He worked for the National Vault Company until 1977. He then went to work for Moore Business Forms in Angola for 24 years, retiring in 2001.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working in his flower beds.

Also surviving are: four children, Ronald E. Baird of Ashley, Angela M. (Christopher) Sweet of Fort Wayne, Randal J. Baird of Waterloo, and Ryan A. (Heather) Baird of Avilla; seven grandchildren, Sara (Ryan) McCurdy, Laura Leply, Trenton (Melissa) Baird, Danielle Baird, Katelyn Baird, Caleb Baird and Jessica Sweet; and four great grandchildren, Liam McCurdy, Ragan McCurdy, Maeve McCurdy and Noelle Baird.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Bernice McClellan and Hazel Blanton.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo.
