AUBURN — Robert Allen “Bob” Rankin, 87, of Auburn passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at DeKalb Health in Auburn.

He was born March 10, 1930, in Fort Wayne to the late Willard C. and Rita R. (Smith) Rankin.

He married Darlene Mary Vakerics on Dec. 2, 1950, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, and she passed away Oct. 28, 2005.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn.

Bob was the Administrative Director of the regional oncology department at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Surviving are a son, Eric M. (Laura) Rankin of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Amy L. Rankin of Indianapolis; a grandson, Gustavo Robert Cueller of Indianapolis; and a brother and sister-in-law, Willard O. and Anna May Rankin of Springfield, Ohio.

A celebration of Bob’s life will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.

A committal service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday in the chapel at the Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne., with Father Timothy Wrozek officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or DeKalb Home Health and Hospice.
