AUBURN — Thornton C. Zeisloft, 90, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Born on October 24, 1925, in Auburn in DeKalb County, Indiana, he was the son of Floyd and Daisy Zeisloft. He joined the Navy during World War II and served as a torpedo man Mate 2nd Class on the submarine USS 404 Spikefish in the Pacific. After being honorably discharged, he came home to the family farm with his wife, Marjorie, whom he married Nov. 25, 1945, in Angola, and raised their five children. Thornton was a member of the Norris Chapel Church, American Submarine Veterans of World War II, Masonic Lodge of Ashley, Scottish Rite, Mispah Shrine, Butler American Legion, VFW, Farm Bureau and served as director of DeKalb Agra Co-Op for 23 years. Thornton is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, Dennis (Charyl) Zeisloft of Auburn; three daughters, Gwen (Jess) Garman of Bloomington, Deanna (Roger) Treesh of Butler; and Susan (Steve) Boyle of Auburn; and a daughter-in-law, Kay Zeisloft Parshall of Auburn. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Lori Willis, Brian Garman, Joe Garman, Jennifer Gathmann, Todd Treesh, Treena Phillips, Ryan Treesh, Justin Zeisloft, Nicole Steury, Kimberlee Brand, Jeremy Zeisloft, Sarah Noack, Melissa Rhodes, Jason Boyle and Lindsey Boyle; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a sister Zwanda Helmick of Friendship Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Daisy Zeisloft, a son, Bradd in 1996, a brother Zelwyn Zeisloft and 2 sisters, Evelyn Zabel and Gailanna Knox. Calling will be Wednesday, September 21 from 2-7 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 PM conducted by the Ashley Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. John Cohrs will officiate. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn with Military Honors preformed by the Butler American Legion and the US Navy Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Norris Chapel United Methodist Church or the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
