William W. Butler

William W. Butler, age 85, of Garrett passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at his Garrett home.

He was born in Decatur, Indiana on June 10, 1932 to Harold and Fonderine (Moore) Butler.  He was a 1950 graduate of Lafayette Central High School in Zanesville, Indiana.  He later attended Indiana Business College in Fort Wayne. 

Mr. Butler honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

He married Mildred (Jeanne) Dix on May 15, 1953 at the Parkview Church of Christ in Fort Wayne.  She resides in Garrett.

Mr. Butler worked in management at Blount Industrial in Bluffton from 1979 until he retired in 1993.   Prior to that Bill worked at Sheller Globe in Grabill and Fruehauf Trailer in Fort Wayne.  He was a member of Auburn Church of Christ where he served as an elder in church.  Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing in leagues at the Garrett Country Club.  He also enjoyed bowling in different leagues in Auburn, Garrett and Bluffton.  In his younger years he played fast pitch softball and basketball.  He also liked to fish in his freetime.

Survivors Include:

His wife; Jeanne Butler of Garrett.

Daughter and son-in-law; Jackie Butler (Bruce) of Kendallville.

Three grandchildren and their spouses; Misti and Kadish Evans, Chad and Joslyn Hall and Tabatha and Micah Mackison.

Six great grandchildren; Avery Evans, Ashtyn Evans, Dominik Hall, Jonathon Hall, Hadley Mackison and Boden Mackison.

Sister; Millie Helten of Wabash.

His special cat; McGraw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael Butler, one brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday morning at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Auburn Church of Christ, 208 West 18^th Street in Auburn. 

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Joe Heins assisted by Andy Grimes, Travis Fox and Dallas Savage.

Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
