William J. Long, age 87, of Auburn passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his home. 

Mr. Long was born in Fort Wayne on July 31, 1930 to William C. and Hazel (Lonzo) Long. 

He honorably served his county in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.

Bill married his first wife Rosaleen Myers on June 24, 1950 in Monroeville.  She preceded him in death on October 25, 1999.  He married his Dorothy Fouts on August 9, 2003 in Auburn.  Dorothy resides in Auburn.

He belonged to the The Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association Local 595.  He worked for 55 years as a cement mason from 1948 until his retirement in 1993.

Bill was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn.  He was an avid hunter and loved planting a garden each year.

Son and daughter-in-law; Michael and Pam Long in Auburn.

Son and daughter-in-law; Daniel and Lori Long of Fort Wayne.

Son and daughter-in-law; Dave and Tammy Long of Auburn.

Daughter; Elizabeth Long of Auburn.

Step son and his wife; Tom and Elva Fouts of Valparaiso, Indiana.

11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Niece and her husband; Judy and Tim Biggins of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Rosaleen, an infant daughter; Rose, brother; John Long, 2 sisters; Roseanne Long and Marguerite Spaulding and a nephew; Greg Spaulding.   

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.  Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral mass on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn.

A vigil service will be led by Father Tim on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 East Seventh Street in Auburn.

Officiating the funeral mass will be Father Timothy Wrozek.

Burial will take place in the Auburn Catholic Cemetery.
