William John Maggert, age 84, of Auburn passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at his Auburn home. 

Mr. Maggert was born on December 18, 1932 in Garrett to Forrest and Frances (Reed) Maggert.

He married Patricia Ann Miller-Maggert on June 30, 1990 in Garrett.  She resides in Auburn.

Mr. Maggert honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955. 

He worked for 39 ½ years for Auburn Gear in Auburn retiring in 1995.  He was a member of the Garrett VFW Post 1892, the Garrett American Legion Post 178, where he served as the honor guard chaplain for many years, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Garrett.

Bill loved sports of all kinds.  He was an avid New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan.  He also liked singing karaoke, listening to country music, playing cards, traveling and going on cruises.  Bill was a big animal lover.  He enjoyed spending time with his friends, he didn't know a stranger.

Survivors include: 

His wife; Patricia Miller-Maggert of Auburn.

Son and daughter-in-law; Kenneth John and Sharon Maggert of Fremont.

Son and daughter-in-law; Rick and Ronda Maggert of Auburn.

Daughter; Pamula Miller of Auburn.

Step daughter and step son-in-law; Tamara Ann and Mark Byerley of Avilla.

Step son; Dale K.R. Miller of Garrett.

9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Sister and brother-in-law; Mary and Royce Higgings of Garrett.

Sister; Carolyn Creager of Garrett.

Sister; Eleanor Perucca of Garrett.

Sister; Juanita Kline of Garrett.

Sister; Wava Woolaid of Alaska.

Brother and sister-in-law; Richard “Sam” and Marge Maggert of Garrett.

Brother; Clayton Maggert of Garrett.

Brother; Ralph Maggert of Garrett.

Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Melvin “Jake” Maggert and Clifford “Hoggie” Maggert and 1 great granddaughter; Ariel.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Bill Weaver of the Auburn Baptist Church.

Memorials may be directed to Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
