Arkie E Haiflich

Auburn – Arkie E. Haiflich, 82, passed away, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at his home in Auburn.

He was born October 3, 1941 in Auburn. His parents were John and Marybell (Brown) Haiflich.

Arkie was a 1959 graduate of Auburn High School and attended International Business College in Fort Wayne. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran.

He worked for 27 years as a salesman for The Garns Company in Auburn then worked for and retired from Cooper Tire in Auburn. After retirement he worked with the maintenance Crew at Greenhurst Country Club in Auburn doing his favorite thing, mowing.

Arkie was a member of Norris Chapel United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board for several years and on a number of committees with the church. He was also a former member and President of Greenhurst Country Club. While working at Cooper Tire he served as treasurer of the UAW Union.

He enjoyed watching Indiana University basketball, Notre Dame football, Cubs baseball and was an avid golfer. He loved being outside in his yard but what was most important to him was his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Arkie married Clara Boren on June 3, 1967 at Norris Chapel United Methodist Church, and she survives in Auburn.

Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Elliot Burke of Lima, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Sarah Haiflich of Auburn; five grandchildren, Jordan Hope Burke, Gabriel Dalton Burke, Keller Matthew Haiflich, Garrick Edison Haiflich and Taytum SueAnn Haiflich; two brothers-in-law, Stan Freeman and Rich Lint; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Roberta Boren; four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Evana and Jerry Keener, Judy Freeman, Judy Lint and Laurie Haiflich.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN 46706 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.

Calling is Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and also 1 hour prior to the service Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials can be given in memory of Arkie to Norris Chapel United Methodist Church.
