Dixie Bolen, age 83 of Garrett, passed away at home on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
He was born on October 16, 1940 in Knott County, Kentucky to Ellis and Cosby (Hicks) Bolen.
Mr. Bolen married Ellen Isham on August 16, 1958 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death November 10, 2022.
He worked at the Auburn Foundry for 43 years and he was a member of the Garrett Eagles for 44 years. In his younger years, Dixie enjoyed riding his motorcycle and collecting classic cars. He also enjoyed gardening and gambling.
Survivors include:
Daughter and son-in-law; Darla and Jim Gamble of Garrett.
Daughter; Lucky Grossman of Garrett.
Seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
Sister; Rose Conley of Stroh, Indiana.
Brother and sister-in-law; Ronnie and Oma Bolen of Wolcottville.
Brother and sister-in-law; Roger and Tina Bolen of Hueysville, Kentucky.
Sister and brother-in-law; Linda and Clark Wireman of Hueysville, Kentucky.
Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years; Ellen Bolen, daughter; Brenda Diehm, six brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Robert Craig officiating.
Burial will take place at the Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given in care of Feller and Clark Funeral Home to help the family with expenses.
