Tucson, AZ - Howard R. Hall, 87, of Tucson, Arizona died November 18, 2023 in Tucson.
Howard was the son of Harris Dale Hall and Hilda Grace Westgate Hall and was born in Eaton Rapids, Michigan on October 10, 1936.
As an older big brother Howard always spoiled his younger brother and sister.
Howard graduated from Waterloo High School Class of 1955. He joined the Navy after high school and unfortunately suffered a recurring injury. After the Navy he returned to Indiana and worked in several factories and retired from Dana/Eaton. He also farmed near St. Joe, Indiana.
Howard was an unconventional thinker and was always trying to figure out better ways to consider and create things. He was a skilled craftsman. Witty and intelligent, he relished an audience. He enjoyed listening to and playing the banjo, German oompah music and taught his daughter to yodel when she was a young girl. He relished fishing. He was soft-hearted and had a great love for animals, especially dogs. His dogs were his constant companions, happily "riding along" with their heads out his truck window. In the 1990s he was injured in a motorcycle accident and in time retired to Arizona for his health. In later years he lived a life of rugged independence. For three years before his peaceful passing, Howard lived in a comfortable, nurturing setting in Tucson, AZ.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Mary Lee.
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Pursell and two grandsons, a brother, Rev. John Hall and a sister, Barbara Deakins.
A memorial service will be held for Howard at the Feller-Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, IN 46793, on April 20, 2024 at 11:00 am. To send condolences to the family visit www.fellerandclark.com.
