Nancy Jane (Davis) Hanna

Nancy Jane (Davis) Hanna, 92, of Hamilton, Indiana, passed away at her Hamilton Lake home, with her family at her side, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.  She was born in Decatur, IL, to Georgia and William Davis on November 30, 1931.

Nancy graduated from Hicksville Ohio in 1949, then continued her education at Methodist Hospital in Fort Wayne where she graduated as a registered nurse.  Nancy worked at several area hospitals and offices until retiring at the age of 72.

Nancy married Wayne L Hanna from Hicksville, Ohio, on June 9, 1951, at which time they moved to Hamilton Lake where they raised their family.  Nancy has been a life-long member of Hamilton Church of Christ.

“Nurse Nancy” or “911 Nanny” as she was affectionately known, enjoyed sitting on her front porch overlooking the lake, reading, spending the winter months snowmobiling in Michigan with family and friends as well as traveling as “Nurse Nancy” with Evelyn’s Excursions on more than fifty bus trips after her retirement. 

Surviving are her husband of 72 years, Wayne, as well as her children; William (Jill) Hanna of Angola, Steven (Kris) Hanna of Angola, and Beth Krohn of Hamilton.  Also surviving are five grandchildren; Adam (Amy) Hanna of Neillsville, Wisconsin, Matthew (Heather) Hanna of Angola, IN, Evan Hanna (Paige Theiler) of West Lafayette, IN, Ben (Jamie) Krohn of Hamilton, and Daniel Krohn (Yvonna Barron) of Ashley, Indiana.  Nancy is also survived by three step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as six great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Hamilton Church of Christ in Hamilton, Indiana, on Friday, April 12th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  There will be a brief service at 1:00. 

Burial will be at Eddy's Cemetery at a later date.
