Naomi J. (Berryhill) Cook

Naomi J. Cook, 89, of Auburn, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Ascension Sacred Heart in Avilla.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1934, in Auburn, Indiana, to Russel and Irene J. (Close) Berryhill.

She married Lloyd Cook Jr., on June 13, 1952, at Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren in Ashley, and he passed away on Jan. 15, 1974.

Naomi started working for the Auburn Police Department as a dispatcher in 1976, and later transferred to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer, retiring in 1994.

Surviving are two children, Randy L. (Shon) Cook, of Garrett and Melinda J. Vincent, of Auburn; daughter-in-law, Sue Cook, of Auburn; 10 grandchildren, Becky (Bob) Mondor, Jenny (Shawn) Schwab, Beth (Brandon) Noel, Ryan (Tara) Cook, Gevin (Evy) Cook, Thomas Biltz, Justin Cook, Jordan (Mackenzie) Cook, Mikaela (Donny) Owens and Sarah Vincent; grandson-in-law, Evan West; 19 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Raymond (Kay) Berryhill, of Corunna, Everett (Rita) Berryhill, of Corunna, Marilyn Weilbaker, of Lafayette and Wanda (Larry) Lorenz, of Thermopolis, Wyoming.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ricky Lee Cook and Ronald L. Cook; daughter, Cindy J. Biltz; three grandchildren, Jamie West, Andrew Biltz and Jeremy Cook; two brothers, Dean Berryhill and Arnold Berryhill; a sister, Elizabeth Waldron; and a brother-in-law, John Weilbaker.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Chaplain Tom Novy officiating.

Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
