Richard Bacon Jr. Obituary

Richard Ira (Dickie) Bacon Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather,
passed on April 17, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on December 12, 1938 in Battle Creek,
Michigan and most recently resided in Hamilton, Indiana.

Richard proudly held a career with Messenger/Renaissance for 30+ years in Auburn, Indiana.
He happily told everyone he was a Four Color Stripper which became a running joke for many
years after his retirement. Richard also served many years as the Commissioner of the Butler
Little League as well as coaching and umpiring games for his sons in their youth.

Richard had a zest for life and embraced his favorite hobbies with enthusiasm. He had a knack
for baking and delighted in sharing his delicious creations with family and friends. Spending time
with his loved ones brought him immense joy, especially with his great-grandchildren.

One of Richard’s favorite pastimes was sitting in his garage, gazing out over his property,
appreciating the beauty of nature. When he wasn’t in the garage, Richard could often be found
enjoying his favorite TV shows, which included many westerns.

Richard was adored for his humor, kindness, and immense capacity to love. He had a warm and
infectious personality that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn; his children, Tina Gillespie, Tonia Bacon
(Brian Petre), Troy (Sherry) Bacon, Terry (Lori) Bacon; his grandchildren, Jerea Amburgey,
Jenna (Clayton) Steller, Jade Bacon (Corey Schoonover), Courtney (Darrel) Broom, Colin
Bacon, William Jr. (Bobbie) Gillespie, Jeremy Gillespie, Meesha Gillespie (Logan Richie); and
his great-grandchildren, Abbygayl and Avery Amburgey and Penelope, Violet, and Oliver
Broom, and Tyler and Amelia Richie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bacon Ranch on June 15, 2024 at 1:00pm. Those who knew
Richard are invited to be with his family as they honor his life and the impact he had on those
around him.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
