Steven G. Silberg, 81, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Auburn Village.
He was born February 21, 1943, in Auburn, Indiana.
Steve served his State and Country in the Indiana National Guard from November of 1964 to November of 1970.
He married Agnes F. “Aggie” Eagen on August 14, 1970, in Auburn, Indiana, and she passed away on September 20, 2017.
Steve was a co-owner of Potter Motors for 55 years. They sold, Pontiac, Cadillac and GMC trucks. He then went to work as a salesman for Sanderson Auto Sales for 10 years.
He was a member of the County Line Church of God.
Steve also was a member of the Elks Lodge in Auburn for over 60 years, was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Auburn for over 60 years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Surviving are two children, Shelly and Richard Pickren of St Charles, Illinois, and Christopher Packer and Robyn Mace of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Zachary and Asia Pickren, Schuyler Pickren, Richard and Christina Pickren and Olivia and Christopher Jones; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Stephen Sorgel of New Mexico, John Sorgel of Chicago, Illinois and Andy Sorgel of Louisville, Kentucky; nephew, Steven G. David of Hamilton; great nephew, Steven G. David; and a special friend, Joyce McNeal of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garth S. Silberg; mother and stepfather, Dola (Hurni) and Richard Sorgel; wife, Aggie; sister, Sandra K. David; great grandson, William Archer Jones; and his special puppy, Spanky.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Steve Schlatter officiating.
Burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, prior to the service at the funeral home.
