Auburn – Arlo R “Dub” Bowman, 99 of Auburn died Monday August 5, 2019 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Waterloo on October 1, 1919 to Robert G and Ethyl (Casselman) Bowman.
Arlo worked for the U.S Postal Service. He served his country from 1941 to 1945 in the Army Air Corps. During his time in the service he took part in 7 European Campaigns and earned 7 Battle Stars.
He was a member of the Auburn American Legion Post 97, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Garrett and Disabled American Veterans. He was a decorated WWII Veteran and was taken on an Honor Flight in April, 2015.
He married Joan G Smith on June 20, 1946 in Auburn and she died July 19, 2013.
Surviving is a son Ronald R Bowman of Alamosa, CO; a sister Maxine Campbell of Auburn, and close friends and neighbors, Joe and Kristen Schultis and family and C. Ellen Hefty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters, Dorothy Van and June Helmuth and 3 brothers, Paul Bowman, Wayne Bowman and Robert Bowman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM at the Auburn American Legion Post 97, 1729 Sprott Street, Auburn, IN 46706. The family asks that No Flowers or memorial donations be sent. To leave condolences visit www.fellerandclark.com.
