Barbara J. (Wilson) Spears

Barbara J. Spears, 90, of Lake Gage, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at Lincolnshire Place in Fort Wayne.

Barbara was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Auburn to the late Aubrey J. “Sam” and Wilma (Latson) Wilson.

She married John P. Spears Sr. on March 4, 1950, and he passed away March 4, 1978.

Barbara enjoyed raising her four children in Fort Wayne and at the lake. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Well Child Clinic in Angola and the American Red Cross, but her true passion in life was the time spent at the lake with her grandchildren.

Surviving are three children, Vicki L. (John) Wright of Vandalia, Ohio, John P. (Sue) Spears Jr. of Angola, and Pat K. (Mike) Cameron of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Easy Spears, Krista Gongwer, Bryan Wright, Kendall Stanley and Ashley Cameron; nine great-grandchildren, Rya Gongwer, Reece Gongwer, Kyle Gongwer, Karter Gongwer, Griffin Spears, Levi Spears, Gavin Wright, Lucas Stanley and Vivian Stanley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael T. Spears; brother, Bill Wilson; and a sister, Louise Weller.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Chaplain Jonathan Meyers officiating. Burial will take place in Clear Lake Lutheran Chapel Cemetery in Fremont.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
