Auburn – Betty Catherine Ellert, 90 formerly of Auburn and Waterloo, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. She was born September 8, 1926 in Defiance City, OH to William O. and Amy M (Ross) Smith. She worked for Messenger Corporation for 12 years before retiring in 1955. Mrs. Ellert was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Waterloo. She also belonged to the Rosary Society of her Church. She was also a member of Franklin and Friends Homemakers Club. She married Gilbert I Ellert on January 24, 1953 in Auburn. He passed away October 22, 1996. She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter, Roger T Ellert and his wife Pat of Fort Wayne, James M Ellert and his wife Lonie of Auburn, Lorie A Ellert of Indianapolis; 2 grandsons, Mike (Lindsay) ellert and Tyler (Gabrielle) Ellert; 3 great grandchildren, Emmylou, Truman and Annalee Ellert. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Ruth Knapp and 4 brothers, Earl, Ivan, Jay, and Omar Smith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM Saturday June 10, 2017 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Waterloo with Father David Carkenord officiating. Burial will be in St Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo. Calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo and also 1 hour prior to the Service at the church Saturday from 10 to 11.
