Carl W. Kimmel, 84, of Butler died Monday, December 24, 2018, at The Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home in Butler surrounded by his family.
He was born July 29, 1934 in Auburn to Clifford A. and Charlottie (Reed) Kimmel.
He worked as a machinist at Borg-Warner Auburn Gear in Auburn for 42 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church, UAW and the American Bowling Congress.
He loved to bowl, bowling on the same team for 40 years. He also enjoyed farming and his 1928 Model A Ford.
Carl married Joan M. Tustison on June 17, 1956 in the Newville United Brethren Church and she survives in Butler.
Also surviving are four children, Susan Goldman of Waynesboro, PA, Carl “Thomas” (Jody) Kimmel of Ashley, James (Denise) Kimmel of Miamisburg, OH and Joseph (Cinda) Kimmel of Mentone; seven grandchildren, Christopher Kimmel, Jason Kimmel, Sam Kimmel, Kelly Buck, Karla Hurraw, Jennifer Starcher and Barbara Kimmel; three step-grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; a brother, brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, David and Mary Rose Kimmel of Garrett, Jimmie Eck of Butler and Deloris Kimmel of New Haven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Ernest Kimmel; two sisters, Esther Myers and Glenda Eck, four brothers, Robert Kimmel, Wayne Kimmel, Richard Kimmel and Clifford Kimmel.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at the Butler United Methodist Church, 501 West Green Street, Butler, with Pastor Dean Blimline officiating. Burial will follow the service in Butler Cemetery.
Calling is Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church and also 1 hour prior to the service Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Butler United Methodist Church.
