Charles E. Taylor Sr.

Charles E. Taylor Sr., age 82, of Auburn passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at his Auburn home.

He was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on November 12, 1935 to Tommy W. and Verna (Lucas) Taylor. 

Charles married Mary E. Mc Carter on March 8, 1955 in New Port, Kentucky.  She resides in Auburn.

Over the years Mr. Taylor worked for the Town of Waterloo Street Department for 10 years, the Auburn Foundry for 14 years, and at the Auburn Walmart for 13 years.  On the side he enjoyed helping people by doing odd jobs like painting, plumbing and sewer work.  He also enjoyed Bowling.  During the 1970’s Mr. Taylor served on the Waterloo Police Reserve.  He was a member of the Auburn Baptist Church in Auburn.    

Survivors Include:

His wife of 63 years; Mary Taylor of Auburn.

Son and daughter-in-law; Charles E. Taylor Jr. “Chuck” and his wife, Rhonda of Garrett.

Daughter; Robin L. Clark of Auburn.

Daughter; Karen S. Taylor of Garrett and her special friend, Andy Colgan.

14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

Sister and brother-in-law; Madonna and Don Whipple of South Milford.

Sister and brother-in-law; Jo Ella and Darrell Sturgill of Cary, Ohio.

Brother; Dan Gross of Kentucky.

Brother and sister-in-law; Boyd and Joan Gross of Kentucky.

Sister; Kathy Taylor of Florida.

Sister; Peggy George of Florida.

Sister; Sharon of Louisville, Kentucky.

Sister; Faye Groover of Florida.

Brother and sister-in-law; Robert and Nancy Taylor of Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother; Mattie Taylor, one grandson; Zachery Taylor, 4 brothers; David Taylor, Glen Gross, Wayne Hall and Jessie Gross and 2 sisters; Patricia Hall and Sharon Tyree.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Wayne Gullion.

Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Auburn Baptist Church Building Fund, 1700 Old Brick Road, Auburn, Indiana 46706.
