GARRETT — David P. Bishop, 82, of Garrett, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at The Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home in Butler.

Mr. Bishop delivered for Eckrich Foods for 30 years and later went to work for Scott's Food in the bakery department for 15 years, retiring in 2007.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 178 of Garrett.

He was born April 14, 1935, in Fort Wayne to Johnny M. and Lila (Handley) Bishop.

He married Lou Ann M. Michael on July 16, 1956, in Angola, and she died Jan. 8, 2013.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Karen Bishop of Auburn; five daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth A. Bishop of Huntertown, Katherine A. and Kinnie Moon of Churubusco, Melinda A. and Robert Crouse of Columbia City, Mary A. Bishop of Huntertown and Rebecca A. Bishop of Huntertown; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Kay Bishop of LaOtto, Tom and Vickie Bishop of Auburn and Robert and Joyce Bishop of Auburn; two sisters, Mary Parks of Auburn and Debbie and Pat Kleeman of Garrett; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Bishop of Garrett and Ella Michael of Churubusco.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother, John Bishop.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860, Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Andrew Yeager officiating. Burial will take place in Christian Union Cemetery in rural Garrett with military honors being conducted by the United States Air Force and American Legion Post 178 of Garrett.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the DeKalb County Humane Shelter.
