AUBURN — Donald C. Saurbeck, 93, of Auburn died Saturday, July 29, 2017, at DeKalb Health in Auburn.

Mr. Saurbeck worked as a lineman and later went into management at Indiana Bell in Auburn.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Auburn.

He was born March 13, 1924, in Waldron, Michigan, to the late Jesse Grant Saurbeck Sr. and Gertie Ellen (Heiser) Saurbeck.

He married Mary E. Psurny on Nov. 19, 1949, in Bryan, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2011.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during World War II. During his time of service, he served in three combat areas, Guam, Quantico and Iwo Jima.

Surviving are a sister, Sharon Smith of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and six siblings, Margaret Rashley, Geraldine Sprow, Evelyn Whorthington, Louise Price, Jesse Saurbeck Jr., Donna Saurbeck, Betty Jane Saurbeck and Robert Saurbeck.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 500 E. 7th St., Auburn, with visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to Mass at the church. Father Jim Shafer will be officiating.

Burial will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday in Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan, Ohio, with Father Jim Halleron officiating.

The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Wednesday followed by visitation until 8 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.

Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
