Doris M. (Davis) Schortgen

Doris M. Schortgen, age 85, of Waterloo passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. 

Mrs. Schortgen was born on July 2, 1932 in Garrett to Frederick Davis and Berniece (Cross) Davis. 

She married Bernard Schortgen on September 26, 1953 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.  He preceded her in death on March 29, 1990. 

Mrs. Schortgen worked at Hamilton Standard in Auburn for 20 years.  She then worked for Messenger Corporation in Auburn for 3 years before retiring in 1990.  She was a member of Sea Breeze Ministries in Butler and she was also a member of the former Waterloo VFW auxiliary.

Survivors include: 

Son; Bernard Schortgen Jr. of Waterloo.

Daughter; Victoria “Vicki” Sweet of Waterloo.

Daughter and son-in-law; Susan and Stephen Mayse of Waterloo.

Five grandchildren and their spouses; Lisa and Scott Hamman, Tyler Schortgen, Mindy Sweet, Ann Mayse-Djaphar and her husband Bobby and Sam and Stephanie Sweet.

Nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; Frederick Davis, her mother and step-father; Berniece and Howard Crabtree, her husband; Bernard, two brothers; Donald Davis and Dorman Davis and one sister; Dorothy Reece.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Waterloo.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Lathan Snyder with Sea Breeze Ministries.

Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Waterloo.
