Gregg C. VanAllen, 71, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at his home in Garrett, surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 2, 1947, in Fort Wayne to the late Edward and Betty (Pequignot) VanAllen. Gregg attended Garrett High School.
Gregg married Kathleen Creager on April 4, 1981, in Garrett, and she survives in Garrett.
Gregg was a self-employed timber buyer owning and operating VanAllen Excavating.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ of Garrett. Gregg loved fishing, classic cars, nature, God and his family.
Also surviving are three children, Tony (Chryl) VanAllen of Garrett, Missy (Mike) Schott of Garrett, and Aaron (Cheryl) VanAllen of Louisville, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Tara (Shane) Fletcher, Kassidi (Tony) Norris, Jericho McGrew, Trenton Schott, Alissa Schott, Ashton VanAllen, Hudson VanAllen and Ella VanAllen; five great-grandchildren, Kendall, Kylan, Kynzie, Kamdyn and Lyla; two brothers, Steve (Gayle) VanAllen of Bruceville, and Kevin VanAllen of South Haven, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, David VanAllen.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Church of Christ of Garrett, 213 E. King St., Garrett, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the church. Brother Bud Owen and Jerry Weller will be officiating. Burial will take place at Christian Union Cemetery in rural Garrett.
Visitation also will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
