AUBURN — Guy Thomas, age 64, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017, at his home in Auburn, Indiana, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Price, Utah, on September 16, 1952, with a free-spirited nature he kept his entire life. His creativity showed in his artistry of pen, ink, and watercolor works of art. Guy penned himself as “The Artist” and loved to participate in local art shows. A compassionate and sensitive man, he rescued wild animals and nursed them back to health. A man of various talents, Guy loved to show them in a variety of ways. His expressed them through his time in the kitchen, decorating for the holidays, grooming the landscape, and even styling the hair of the Thomas girls. Guy was a sensitive, funny, and supportive father. He felt blessed and proud to see all that his daughters accomplished in his lifetime. He was a show choir chaperone for four years, showed up to every DeKalb Middle and High School football game to watch his girls cheer, and was always spotted in the crowd of a pageant, tearing up in pride with a crown pin on his lapel.

He dreamed big and was always ready for the next adventure. Once the weather turned warm, he was frequently spotted riding his black and yellow motorcycle around town. His love for the outdoors often found him kayaking peacefully and taking in the beauty of nature on the lake. Guy knew how to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary and was electric to be around. He loved to dress for the occasion and enjoyed having music playing and incense lit throughout the house. Everyone who walked through the front doors of the Thomas Home felt welcomed and ready to have a great time.

Guy was diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer in May of this year. He married the love of his life on October 20, 1990, whom he is survived by, Joy (Hixson); two daughters, Terrin and McKenna of Auburn; his mother, Beth Neal; two sisters, April Smith and Nannette Olsen; and three brothers, KC, Kelly and Kevan Olsen, all of Utah.

The Thomas family attended Pine Hills Church in Fort Wayne. There will be a celebration of life for Guy, Saturday, August 5, at 7 p.m. at the outdoor amphitheater by the lake at Lakewood Park Baptist Church, 5555 C.R. 29, Auburn. Calling will be at 6 p.m.

Memorials can be sent to the Thomas family home at 902 S. Jackson Street in Auburn.
