Helen L. (Roop) Fugate

Helen L. Fugate, 85, of Auburn died Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

She was born Sept. 3, 1933, in St. Joe to the late Elmer and Minnie (Penland) Roop.

She was a 1951 graduate of St. Joe High School.

Mrs. Fugate worked for Cooper Standard in Auburn, retiring after 33 years of service.

She was a life-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 97 of Auburn and Garrett Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1892.

Surviving are her companion of 33 years, Donald A. Dapp of Auburn; three children, Terry L. (Mary Ann) Fugate of Garrett, Karen (Reynold Jerome III) Jerome of Yuma, Arizona, and Alan (Juanita) Fugate of Garrett; 14 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Fugate; daughter, Lori Ann Fugate; two grandchildren; and two brothers, William Roop and Pete Roop.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Alan Fugate officiating. Burial will take place in Roselawn Cemetery in Auburn.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
