James E. Martenies, 79, of Hicksville, Ohio died Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.
Mr. Martenies was a supervisor for Martin Sprocket & Gear in Montpelier, Ohio.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Newville. He also was a member American Legion Post 202 of Butler and was a member and served three years as secretary for the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Hicksville, Ohio.
He was born March 16, 1939, in Camden, Michigan to the late George and Viola (Camp) Martenies. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He married Janet L. Tustison on April 1, 1972, in Hicksville, Ohio, and she survives.
Also surviving are eight children, Janice Martenies (Roger) Ross of Kingman, AZ, Kristy Martenies (Brett) Cromwell of Republic, Wash., William (Laura) Martenies of Sparks, Nevada, Debbie (Roy) Sante of Colorado, Clay (Katie) Martenies of Southern Calif., Christine (David) Keith of Fort Wayne, Patty (Jim) Tomecek of Hicksville, Ohio, and Ellen Koester of Auburn; 19 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Worthington of Angola.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Raymond Martenies, Don Martenies, and Phyllis Kurtz.
A celebration of life service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 213 E. Edgerton St., Hicksville, Ohio.
