Auburn – James L Snyder, 85 of Auburn died Tuesday April 3, 2018 at DeKalb Health in Auburn. He was born in Springfield Township in Allen County on August 5, 1932 to Glen B and Beulah (Bidlack) Snyder. James was a 1950 graduate of Harlan High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving from October 15, 1951 to October 6, 1955. He worked at Rowan Lumber Yard in Hicksville for 12 years then BF Goodrich in Woodburn for 27 years retiring in 1994. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW and a former member of the Hicksville VFW. H enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events and activities. James married Donna Morhart on December 7, 1956 in Cecil, Ohio and she survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Leslie (Cindy) Snyder of Butler, Connie (Mark) Heffelfinger of Auburn and Rick (Jodi) Snyder of St. Joe; 8 grandchildren, Cathy Snyder, Lathan (Layna) Snyder, Brooke (Phil) Recker, Drew (Kaitlyn) Kelham, Jessi Snyder, Austin Snyder, Dakota Snyder and Erin Snyder; 5 step grandchildren, Cory (Nicole) Heffelfinger, Cari (David) Barsantee, Jeremy (Lisa) Heffelfinger, Jill (Troy) Krider and Josh (Megan) Heffelfinger; 8 Great Grandchildren, Chase Donley, Jack Recker, Grant Recker, Peyton Kelham, Lily Recker, Lexie Snyder, Ethan Snyder and Kamryn Snyder; 13 step great grandchildren, Emily Lightner, Kaylen Kast, Karsen Kast, Karli Barsantee, Emily Barsantee, Morgan Barsantee, Sydney Barsantee, Emma Heffelfinger, Jacob Heffelfinger, Braydin Raines, Jaxin Raines, Kai Krider and Maddox Krider; Brothers and sisters in laws, Betty Snyder of Harlan, Louise Grant of Paulding, OH, Jack (Marilyn) Morhart of Fort Wayne and Jerry Morhart of Oakwood, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Bill Snyder and Bob Snyder. Services will be 1 PM Saturday April 7, 2018 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center Street, Auburn, IN with Rev James Farrer officiating. Burial will follow the service in Scipio Cemetery, Harlan. Calling is Friday from 4 to 8 PM and also 1 hour prior to the service Saturday from noon to 1 all at the funeral home.
