Waterloo – Joan Roberta Grill, 91 of Waterloo died Friday August 11, 2017 at her home in Waterloo. She was born October 4, 1925 in Gary IN. Her father was Elbert E Forrest and her mother was Irene Mae (Albright) Forrest. They have both passed away. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Rebecca Cook-Meyer, a grandson Nathan Grill and a son in law, Timothy Cook. Joan was a 1943 Graduate of Ashley High School and a member of the Cedar Lake Church of Christ. She lived a Christian life and faithfully supported her church. She sang in the church choir and the praise team for many years. She worked in the Army Air Corp offices in Tucson, AZ while her husband was stationed there during WWII. When they moved back to DeKalb County she worked on the family farm and then in a family business while raising her children. She then worked in the office of Dr. William Bradley Hughes in Waterloo for 20 years. Joan married Gerald Allen Grill on October 12, 1943 in Kendallville, IN and he survives in Waterloo. Also surviving are 3 sons, Steve (Bobbi) Grill of Hamilton, Jon (Deb) Grill of Duck Key, FL and Tom (Jamie Lausier) Grill of Oxford, CT; a son in law, Jim (Dianne) Meyer; 7 grandchildren, Amy Grill, Ann (Josh) Miller, Dan (Katie) Grill, Emily (Josh) Surowitz, Eric (Michelle) Grill, Paul Cook, Will (Shacina) Cook; 17 great grandchildren and a sister Betty June Briggs. Services are 11 AM Wednesday August 16, 2017 at the Cedar Lake Church of Christ, 1492 CR 27, Waterloo, IN with Jonathon Pennington officiating. Burial in Waterloo Cemetery, Calling is Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo. Preferred memorials are to the Cedar Lake Church of Christ.
