Dear Costin Family,

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of challenge. John was a good man who served his country and community with honor and grace. We were fortunate enough to visit with John and Diane a couple of years ago at Sam and Steph's while Rita was visiting. It was a nice family time after not seeing each other for many years. John told me some family stories I had not heard before.

Love

Dear Diane (& kids, grandkids and the greats)

I wanted to express my sympathies to all of you on the loss of your amazing family members.  I have so many happy memories of the Costin family growing up on Peters Street and was incredibly blessed to have John and Diane as my Godparents.

John was the first man, besides my daddy, that I wanted to marry when I grew up.  I remember walking his mail route down our street and trying to guess how many letters would be in the box at the corner of Peters and Warfield.  I don’t know that I ever got it right but loved trying.  John taught me to watch the leaves to know when a storm was brewing.  I remember the rock tumbler in the basement and coming home with my precious “worry stone.”  Your house was a safe place for me to run to when I was sad or angry with Ed & Jayne and my brothers.  I loved sitting around the kitchen table with everyone and was amazed that you had a blue bathroom for the boys and pink one for the girls.  While at my house we had Grape Nuts and Raisin Bran, I could come to your house for Cap’n Crunch!

Shortly after I moved back to Garrett I brought my daughter, Abbey Jayne, down to meet John and Diane while we were out trick or treating.  The porch light wasn’t on and I told Abbey that were just stopping to say hello and not to expect candy.   Guess who went home with peppermints anyhow!  Because that is the kind of people the Costins are.

I know Pat & Kim were waiting for John when he arrived in heaven.  What a joyous reunion for them.  May God grant you all comfort and peace… and THANK YOU for being such a wonderful part of my childhood.

Love,
Lynn Ellen

Such a loss! With our deepest Sympathies to Diane, his devoted wife of 65 years, mother of
their beautiful,  and handsome adult children; Tom, Cathy, Tim and Pat (deceased), Dennis, Nancy, and Pete. His proudly title of Grandpa, and long time friend to many, especially his church  family
with being "Coach," for over 20 years; he was a hard worker, whatever he did, he done
his best. An 89 year old with class, great listener and giver. True Christian,  taught
his family values of right and wrong. Loved his hometown,  community minded, Catholic
school graduate, successful man under God. He is with his parents, now visiting, sharing
memories. And with Pat, and Kim. God's plan came together onn October 22nd, God
got two Angels, Advocates,  and we as friends will never forget his smile. RIP "Coach."

Pete, Tim, and Costin Family,
Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your dad John and sister Pat. Can't imagine what you have been through. So very very sorry for your losses. Always will remember John coaching me at St. Joe, and knowing Pat from my time at the Dairy working with Mike.
