Kurt Whitman, 46, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, surrounded by his family at his home in Butler.

He was born April 15, 1971, in Hicksville, Ohio, to Keith and Kathy (Engler) Whitman, and they survive in Edgerton, Ohio.

Kurt worked as a laboratory technician for Cooper Standard in Auburn for 23 years.

He married Christy Stark on October 15, 1994, in Edgerton, and she survives in Butler.

Kurt was a member of Crossroads of Zion in rural Hamilton.

A few of Kurt’s true passions in life were watching and taking part in his children’s sporting activities, and going to Bloomington to see his two children who attend Indiana University.

Also surviving are four children, Kraig Whitman, Casey Whitman, Chloe Whitman and Cayla Whitman, all of Butler; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Sarah Whitman of Cincinnati, Ohio; father and mother-in-law Tom and Karla Stark of Edgerton; and brothers and sisters-in-law,Joe and Chelsey Stark of Edgerton, Jackie and Jeff Conley of Brownsburg and Clayton and Kristen Stark of Edgerton.

A memorial service will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Pastor Gene Thimlar officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately after the service until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the education fund of Kurt’s four children, in care of Christy Whitman.
