Lee A. Surface, 71, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at his home in Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 3, 1947, in Garrett to the late Forrest J. and Ruth Valjean “Jean” (Provines) Surface. Lee was a 1965 graduate of Leo High School and received an associate degree in 1973 from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1966-1969 during the Vietnam War.
Lee worked as an electrical engineer for Navistar International for 38 years, retiring in 2003.
He attended the First Missionary Church in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are two children, Steven R. Surface and Allison M. Kennedy; two siblings, Rosella M. (Keith) Libey of Hudson, and Eric K. (Robin) Surface of Rochester; sister-in-law, Karen M. Surface of Huntertown; four nephews, Morgan (Jessica) Libey, Nathan (Charlene) Libey, Kyle (Karalee) Surface, and Reid (Jessica) Surface; three great-nieces; four great-nephews; and friend and caregiver, Laura Brashear of New Haven.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Olen F. Surface.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert W. Martin will be officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery in rural Garrett.
Visitation also will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
