Lyle G. Freed, 70, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, at his home in Auburn.

Lyle was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Garrett to Clarence F. and Dorothy V. (Cliangan) Freed.

He worked in the shipping department at Auburn Gear for 36 years, retiring in 2009.

Lyle was a member of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene.

He enjoyed woodworking and played Santa Claus for local children for several years.

He married Ethel M. Yowell on October 16, 1965, in Ashley, and she survives in Auburn.

Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah K. and Bruce Wisman of Fort Myers, Florida; Tamatha K. and Robert Snyder of Niles, Michigan; and Nicole K. Sholl of Auburn; five grandchildren, Kylie Ackerman, Joshua Carpenter, Brianna Carpenter, Madison Carpenter and MaKenna Sholl; two great-grandchildren, Braydon Carpenter and Paisleigh Brown; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin “Jay” and Suzie Freed of Auburn and Stanley L. and Rhonda Freed of Auburn.

There will be no services conducted.

Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
