Major Glenn E. Hockensmith, age 87, of Fort Wayne passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Heritage Park Healthcare in Fort Wayne.
He was born on January 5, 1931 in Huntington, Indiana to Howard and Lula (Myers) Hockensmith. He graduated from Huntington High School.
Glenn honorably served his country in the United States Army as a medic in Korea during the Korean War. After the Korean War Glenn continued to serve in the Army including 3 tours in Vietnam. He specialized in Explosive Ordinance Disposal . He retired from the Army as a Major in 1971.
Survivors Include:
Son and daughter-in-law; Gary and Jeanette Hockensmith of Florida.
Daughter and son-in-law; Jutta and Hanns Mahrer of Germany.
6 grandchildren and their spouses; Larry and Susan Sprague, Kimberly and Brian Pierson, Stephanie and Dean McNamara, Trinity Hockensmith, Alex Mahrer and DeAnna Reininga.
11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; Hilde M. Hockensmith.
