Michael Molargik, age 100, of Garrett passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett.
He was born in Ege, Indiana on December 7, 1917 to Frank and Frances (Ludwig) Molargik.
Mr. Molargik honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a Purple Heart recipient and served during WWII under General George S. Patton. Mr. Molargik was the oldest living DeKalb County veteran.
He married Mary Kuckewich in Terre Haute, Indiana on August 21, 1948. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2013.
Mr. Molargik was a lifelong DeKalb County farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garrett, a lifetime member of the Garrett Eagles and a lifetime member of the Avilla American Legion Post 240. He enjoyed his Christmas Tours leading up to Christmas and he enjoyed making his famous homemade sausage.

11 grandchildren; James Molargik, Joseph Molargik, Alicia Schmutzler, Acalia Swim, Gail Neukom, Aaron Molargik, Amanda Melendez, Melissa Yarian, Barbara Molargik-Fitch, Rebecca Molargik and Ryan Molargik.
20 great grandchildren.

Sister; Leona Gibson of Fort Wayne.
Sister; Theresa Lombardo of Fort Wayne.
Sister; Alvina Molargik of Garrett.
Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Mary Molargik, an infant daughter; Madonna Molargik, 9 brothers; Al Molargik, Tony Molargik, Vern Molargik, Frank Molargik, Clem Molargik, Albert Molargik, Jacob Molargik, Sylvester Molargik and Edward Molargik, and a sister; Josephine Molargik.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garrett.
Officiating the memorial service will be Father Jim Shafer of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garrett.
Burial with military honors will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Garrett.
